I realised something today. . .

October 25, 2012 in Creative Business, Creative Business Co., Fear, Passion, True Self

I was chatting with a group of friends and we were talking about that uneasy feeling, that sense of lost direction. It comes strongest when we spend too much time watching others and seeing how together they have it and how fast they are moving forward towards their goals.

“I need help, what email client do you use?” or

“I feel like you are doing better than me, where do you host your website?”

Well you know what – I realised something today.

We don’t have anyone telling us what the rules are or where the boundaries lie anymore,

and that is making us a little UNCOMFORTABLE.

At the ProBlogger Event a few weeks ago I was lucky enough to chat with Chris Guillebeau.  We were joking about when you listen to a great presentation on, let’s say Product Launches;

The speaker gives you incredible information, fills you with inspiration and gets you excited for your next launch.

Then it’s Q&A time and despite the room being full of intelligent, entrepreneurial types, who are more than capable of using google, you can almost guarantee that the first or second question will be;

“What you have said is really great, but I need to know what affiliate program you use.”

Why?

Because we are desperately grasping for how to’s,  for the next steps and some freakin rules already!

Sorry to tell you but You are in the driver’s seat now and it is time to pull up your big girl pants and get used to it.

As tiny children we humans need boundaries, every teacher and mother alike will tell you kids respond well to rules, even better to the ones that are consistent – so understand this stuff has been ingrained in us for a long time!

We certainly learn to conform and obey at school (or if you are like me, you don’t conform and it makes school a long and painful road), university is more about sitting still and following the rules.

Adulthood gets even worse – get a job, keep a job, wear the right clothes, toe the line and fit in with the crowd.

We learn the social rules and the office rules and the public transport rules and the unspoken rules of family engagement. It sounds exhausting when I write it out but it is just all so natural we don’t think about it.

Then we go out on your own!

Now we have no one to tell us what to charge, what to create, when to get out of bed, how long to spend on twitter, ANYTHING!

It is no wonder we crave instructions and direction.

LET IT GO!

Be brave, breathe it in!

You changed the game – YEP You did that!

Now you have to get yourself comfortable with making up the rules as you go along.

Did you hear I am moving my online home? I am making house with a new business partner and setting up a workroom where I can better serve you and your business – join the mailing list now so you are the first to know about the launch of  Studio Exsto. It will be pretty different from what you see here – in a good way!

Here is $100 for you to do with it what you want!

That is what Chris Guillebeau told the 1,000 people at this year’s World Domination Summit.

“Take this $100 and do something in the world”

Give yourself a moment to think on that. Imagine you had just been charged with this responsibility.

What would you do with $100?

Would you buy a gift for your friend, or maybe someone you know who is under appreciated? Perhaps you would give the money to your favorite charity?

Or would you think bigger, demand more value for your $100 and see what you could do to inspire real change in the world.

Natalie Sisson chose that last option. You can find out all about the $100 Change project by watching a short video. You can still sign up and invest your own $100 in yourself, in change and in the world.

If you invest $100 in this project what you are really doing is investing in yourself.

Me? I wanted in!

And the thing that really tipped me over the edge – I am launching something very super CRAZY awesome in around 100 days! The timing seemed too close to ignore. This crazy awesome exciting thing that I can’t tell you about yet is too big for me to handle on my own – it is a collaboration with the incredibly talented Robyn of Kaptiv Media.

And it is a game changer – Robyn and I are breaking all of the rules and making up our own.

I figured, a little push along the way sounded like a plan – if you have dreams you are wanting to launch but haven’t yet; or a book you want to have published but haven’t shown anyone yet, I challenge you to come with me! Let’s spend $100 gaining insight and advice from some of the most inspiring people from around the world.

Problem is then the rest is up to us! We have to put it into action in our own lives and businesses. Oh wait, Natalie wants to help 10 entrepreneurs do that too. This project is not about her making money it is about CHANGE!

Natalie is offering 10 Scholarship Opportunities to people who participate in this project.

From late November you can apply to receive one of 10 scholarships worth a minimum of $1,000 – each of which includes a money amount, mentoring from key change makers and a business framework for getting it done. However many people join up and pay $100, all those $100′s gets divided up into 10 parts and gifted to the winners. So if 100 people sign up – winners receive $1,000 but if 1,000 people join in winners will get $10,000 towards their projects and business plans.

I don’t know about you, but I could do a lot of good things with $10,000.

But could you do what Natalie has done with a mere $100? She has taken a small amount of money, that was gifted to her and she is creating a serious catalyst for wide-spread change!

I am impressed! What are your thoughts?

I would love to know what you would do with $100.

Anything is Possible – we just have to JUMP

July 13, 2012 in Fear

I love flying, siting on the edge of a cloud always has a way of making me feel like anything is possible!

Anything is possible

Anything is possible

Anything is possible

I am standing at the edge of my own cloud and I keep looking out over, seeing what is out there in the world for me and what I can offer to make this world a better place!

Take a deep breathe Elle

Jump!

Skydiving involves around 60sec of free fall followed my the most freeing and exhilarating ten mins as you float slowly and softly to the earth that is happy to receive you gently!

I have been skydiving once and it was the most amazing experience of my life (ok second to child birth). today I have decided I want to spend the rest of my life jumping out a perfectly good plane 14000 ft off the ground!

I’m not big on analogies but this one has me excited!

It is terrifying as you roll out of the plane into a free fall that although is only 60 sec feels like it lasts an lifetime – until it stops and you floating lightly on the breeze.

You immediately think to yourself “that wasn’t so bad, I’m ok, in fact I am a better happier person than I was only a moment ago.

Right now I am free falling! I’m terrified I wont do all the things I want to do by years end. I am worried no one will value what I have to share  I have chosen a life which has huge risks financially and emotionally.

It’s exciting and I am short of breathe, I jumped from a working, safe environment with security and simplicity! I’m crazy and my chest hurts!

But I’ve done it before and I know this part will be over soon and I will flying. I’ll be so happy I can’t keep from crying and the earth will embrace me gently when I come to rest. I’ll look back at this time and think “that wasn’t so bad, I could do that again!”

If your still free falling, it’s ok your not alone and it wont last forever! Let’s fall together – then we can hug on the beach and laugh together about how scared we were and how we didn’t need to be!

We need to remind each other of this because once I’m rested and reenergised I want to jump again!
